Games that use dice and the dice themselves goes back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but current craps is just about 100 years old. Current craps formed from the 12th Century English game referred to as Hazard. When they left Acadia, they brought their favorite game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns modernized the game and made it fair mathematically. It’s believed that the Cajuns altered the title to craps, which is gotten from the term for the losing throw of 2 in the game of Hazard, recognized as "crabs."
