Be brilliant, play cunning, and learn how to play craps the proper way!
Dice and dice games date back to the Crusades, but modern craps is only about a century old. Current craps formed from the 12th Century Anglo game referred to as Hazard. Nobody knows for certain the birth of the game, however Hazard is believed to have been created by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, sometime in the twelfth century. It is presumed that Sir William’s soldiers gambled on Hazard through a siege on the citadel Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was gotten from the castle’s name.
Early French colonists brought the game Hazard to Canada. In the 1700s, when banished by the British, the French headed south and settled in southern Louisiana where they a while later became Cajuns. When they left Acadia, they brought their favored game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns modernized the game and made it mathematically fair. It’s said that the Cajuns altered the title to craps, which is gotten from the term for the non-winning throw of two in the game of Hazard, recognized as "crabs."
From Louisiana, the game moved to the Mississippi riverboats and throughout the nation. A good many acknowledge the dice builder John H. Winn as the creator of current craps. In the early 1900s, Winn assembled the current craps setup. He added the Don’t Pass line so players could wager on the dice to lose. Later, he created the spots for Place bets and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
