March 28th, 2021 by Gina

Be cunning, play brilliant, and discover how to play craps the ideal way!

Dice and dice games goes back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but modern craps is approximately a century old. Modern craps formed from the old English game referred to as Hazard. Nobody absolutely knows the birth of the game, however Hazard is said to have been discovered by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, in the 12th century. It is supposed that Sir William’s soldiers gambled on Hazard during a blockade on the citadel Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was derived from the fortress’s name.

Early French colonists imported the game Hazard to Acadia. In the 18th century, when driven away by the English, the French moved down south and discovered safety in southern Louisiana where they a while later became Cajuns. When they departed Acadia, they brought their preferred game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns modernized the game and made it mathematically fair. It is believed that the Cajuns adjusted the name to craps, which was gotten from the name of the bad luck throw of 2 in the game of Hazard, recognized as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game moved to the Mississippi river boats and all over the nation. Most think the dice builder John H. Winn as the founder of modern craps. In 1907, Winn designed the current craps layout. He created the Do not Pass line so gamblers could wager on the dice to lose. At another time, he invented the spots for Place wagers and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
